The Department of the Arts consists of Performing Arts and Visual Arts programs. The Performing Arts program focuses on choral and instrumental music (classical and contemporary), dance (classical, modern, and Armenian), and theater. The Visual Arts program focuses on drawing/painting, ceramics/sculpture, computer-aided design and photography. The Department offers its courses as studio laboratories to reflect the artisan/apprentice model of artistic training and to develop technical proficiency and artistic sensitivity, as well as a critical understanding of the creative process.	It seeks to develop and nurture creativity, artistic self-confidence, sense of initiative, intellectual curiosity, and aesthetic appreciation, and to establish a firm foundation in skills and technique. Teacher recommendation and auditions are required to develop an integrated program of courses according to student skill level. Texts, artwork, and music from the Armenian artistic repertoire are integral components of the Department's programs.
