The Department of History and Social Studies aims to provide its students with a solid grounding in history, the social sciences, and global studies. Students study Western and non-Western cultures to understand the breadth of the human experience and the historical interconnectedness of politics, economics, geography, religion, the arts, and society.
|
Teachers use a variety of techniques, including lectures, discussions, and multimedia presentations to instill an appreciation of historiography, the in-depth analysis of primary sources, the critical reading of secondary sources, the development and presentation of an argument, and the use of clear and precise vocabulary to enhance the argument. The Department of History and Social Studies works closely with the Department of Armenian History and Culture to convey a comprehensive picture of the place of Armenians in world history.
